Stoneleigh Coffee

As an architect, you design for the present, with an awareness of the past, for a future which is essentially unknown.
- Jacob Cooper

Welcome to the art of brewing the perfect cup of Stoneleigh Coffee, where every bean tells a story of excellence, heritage, and the lush landscapes of Jamaica’s Blue Mountains. Here’s how to bring out the best in your Stoneleigh Coffee, ensuring a cup that’s rich, smooth, and bursting with vibrant flavors.

What You’ll Need:

  • Freshly roasted Stoneleigh Coffee beans
  • A quality burr grinder
  • Clean, fresh water (filtered water is recommended)
  • Your preferred brewing device (French Press, Drip Coffee Maker, Pour-Over, Aeropress, etc.)
  • A kettle (preferably a gooseneck kettle for pour-overs)
  • A scale for precise measurements (optional but recommended)
  • A timer

Grinding Your Coffee:

  1. Measure Your Coffee: For optimal flavor, we recommend a ratio of 1:16, which is approximately 15 grams (1 tablespoon) of coffee to every 240 ml (8 oz) of water. Adjust to taste.
  2. Grind Size: The grind size should match your brewing method: coarse for French Press, medium-coarse for pour-over, medium for drip coffee makers, and fine for Aeropress or espresso. Freshly grinding your beans right before brewing ensures maximum freshness and flavor.

Brewing Methods:

Pour-Over:

  1. Heat water to 195°F – 205°F.
  2. Place your filter in the dripper and rinse it with hot water to remove any papery flavors and to preheat your cup or carafe.
  3. Add your ground coffee to the filter and gently tap to level the surface.
  4. Start your timer and slowly pour just enough water to saturate the grounds, allowing them to “bloom” for 30 seconds.
  5. Continue pouring the water in a slow, steady spiral, adding water in stages until you’ve reached your desired amount.
  6. Allow the water to drip through completely. The total brew time should be about 2.5 to 3.5 minutes.

French Press:

  1. Heat your water to 195°F – 205°F.
  2. Add your coarse ground coffee to the French Press.
  3. Start your timer and pour water into the French Press, saturating all the grounds.
  4. Stir gently with a non-metallic object, then place the lid on the press with the plunger pulled all the way up.
  5. After 4 minutes, slowly press the plunger down.
  6. Serve immediately to prevent over-extraction.

Aeropress:

  1. Heat water to 195°F – 205°F.
  2. Place a filter in the Aeropress’s detachable plastic cap and rinse with hot water.
  3. Add your fine ground coffee to the Aeropress.
  4. Start your timer and pour water over the coffee, saturating all the grounds. Stir gently.
  5. Insert the plunger and pull up slightly to create a vacuum seal. After 1 minute and 15 seconds, slowly press down the plunger.
  6. Enjoy your coffee!

Final Tips:

Water Quality: The taste of your coffee is about 98% water. Use clean, filtered water to ensure the best taste.

Temperature: Proper water temperature (195°F – 205°F) is crucial for optimal extraction.

Freshness: Store your coffee beans in a cool, dark place in an airtight container to maintain freshness.

Enjoy the journey of brewing with Stoneleigh Coffee, and savor the unique flavors and aromas that make Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee one of the most cherished in the world. Happy brewing!
